This September designer Valentino Garavani will receive an honor by the Couture Council at the Museum at FIT in New York City. The Italian fashion legend, who recently retired as head designer of the brand he built, will receive the honor during a benefit event which kicks off the start of New York Fashion Week in the fall. Last year’s benefit honored Karl Lagerfeld and reportedly raised $600,000.
“I have always admired FIT so much and I am so happy to have the chance to work with them, I am looking forward to meeting the students and to talk to them. It’s such a tremendous honor to receive it, especially as it is related to couture, which everybody knows has always been my passion and the center of my work. This is very important.”
Mr. Garavani might be receiving his honors for his couture clothing, but we appreciate him for his consistently beautiful high heels. He’s got a knack for incorporating trends, but always staying true to his preference for ultra feminine styles. The shoes above are from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, available at Valentino.com.
