Are leopard print high heels always on trend?

Jimmy Choo leopard print shoesHigh heel shoe trends certainly come and go (we’ve recently just predicted the demise of color-blocking for example, a look which I am tres over) but what does that mean for the leopard skin look? We’ve been covering it as a fashion shoe trend for years – basically every year since we started in 2010 – so perhaps the time has come to declare the inevitable: leopard print heels aren’t a trend at all. They’re just another color.

Jimmy Choo seems to be taking that approach, with the label’s flagship shoe the Anouk being produced in a leopard print upper for 2014 (see above). It’s “tonal-brown and ivory leopard-print satin” to be precise, with a pale-gold metallic print, pointed toe. The gorgeous leopard-look shoes are otherwise just like other Anouks, including their heel height (5 inches, or 120mm) and – best of all – price. They’re new to Net-a-Porter for $595.

The soft leather upper for these bright booties sits atop a 4.75 inch heel, and a brightly colored skull adorns the sole to complete the look. The leopard print shoes are called the Paige and they’re currently available on pre-order from heels.com for $149.99.
