Billionaire Richard Branson loves to be photographed with pretty blondes in high heels, but now it seems the Virgin Airlines owner will be the one wearing the heels. According to reports, Branson lost a bet against AirAsia executive Tony Fernandes that means that the entrepreneur will have to serve an AirAsia flight wearing an attendant uniform – complete with heels! Everyone is familiar with the celeb obsession for certain shoes and Louboutins ranking high on the list. There are some brands, however, that fly just little farther under the radar. One of those is Brian Atwood. With no blaring red sole or any other signage to announce the label, this brand has crept quietly into the zeitgeist of must-have shoes. They are characterized by sleek design and sexy high heels. Brian Atwood’s Fall 2010 collection consists of a wide variety of styles, including calf hair, leopard print and suede peep toes.
One of the most popular styles however is the Maniac. Countless celebs have been seen wearing the Maniac in its many colors and it’s easy to see why. The shoe is a classic and in black can fit in as a wardrobe staple for almost any woman. It comes in matte leather, patent leather, calf hair and prints with a platform and a high heel that lengthens legs. Check out some of the celebs that love Brian Atwood shoes in the gallery below. They include Eva Longoria, Victoria Beckham, Demi Moore, Anne Hathaway and several others.
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently debuted herself as a country singer on the biggest stage in the genre. The actress had a quite a bit to prove and what did she choose to wear? A pair of Brian Atwood “Eastwood” booties! Check out her performance below.
Actress Hilary Swank was a sparkling vision in her metallic ensemble. In the above photos she is arriving at the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year Awards and gives us just a peek at her shiny high heels. Appropriate to the occasion, Swank is wearing the “Glamour” heel by Jimmy Choo.
Pop diva Mariah Carey is notorious for her amazing shoe collection. The 40-year singer is now pregnant, but barely even owns any flats (to her husband, Nick Cannon’s dismay). Carey, who even wears high heels on the baseball field, recently announced her new collection of fashion items which will be sold via Home Shopping Network. The line includes a number of shoes – with heels, of course!
The Material Girl has been known to be a fashion lighting rod for the decades that she’s been in the entertainment spotlight. At 52 years of age Madonna is still on the cutting edge and recently wore perforated, thigh-high, faux leather boots to present an award during the Fashion Delivers ceremony. The boots are by Stella McCartney and retail for around $1,200.
Jennifer Hawkins has teamed up with Siren Shoes to produce the JLH for Siren range of stilettos. The publicity shots feature plenty of raunchy sprawling shots (see above), but the shoes themselves are quite neutral in colour and moderate in price. Our pick of the first bunch is the Jelle high-heeled sandal. With 12cm heel and reasonable price tag ($189.95) they should be flying off the shelves. Available in nude and black.
