The 2011 Forecast: Shoe Trends for the New Year

Say so long to 2010! The new year is about to begin and with it a new crop of lovely high-heeled shoe styles. Have a look at a few of the trends you can expect to see for 2011. Happy New Year!

Stilettos, unlike most heels, are super skinny and needle-like. Next year they’ll play the foil to the many chunky heels on the market. These slingbacks are by Aperlai.

Booties have been going strong for several seasons and they’ll continue to make a strong showing in the new years. The example below is from Burak Uyan.

Platforms go to the extreme next year, taking on a retro flavor. Where as in previous seasons the platform was relegated to just the front part of the shoe, in 2011 a conspicuous (and thick!) platform will often run all along the sole of the shoe. As in these from Christian Louboutin.

Woven wedges will appear in many flavors from various brands – especial for the spring and summer seasons. They are a part of the larger trend that favors course-looking materials. This example is by Jean-Michel Cazabat.

Super brights will be in 2011 and one of the best ways to play with intense color is via shoes and other accessories. Luckily there will be plenty to choose from. Like this nearly-neon yellow pumps from Jil Sander.
