Jeans and heels sounds so simple, doesn’t it?
You love the lift that heels give you. And you love the feeling and comfort of your favorite pairs of jeans.
You know it makes sense to combine the two.
But should you?
Yes, you can wear heels with jeans.
In fact heels and jeans are an ever-popular combination, mixing the height and mood lifting power of heels with the contemporaneous delight of denim.
Yet fashion lovers have been combining jeans with heels for decades. Back in the 1970s, pop supergroup ABBA often wore huge flared jeans with platform shoes or boots. Such was the trend at the time.
In those days, it wasn’t just the women wearing the combination: the sight of men in platform shoes and flared jeans is a defining image of the decade.
In modern times there are countless ways for women to wear jeans and heels.
One popular look is to riff off the pants themselves, mirroring the rivets with brass highlights in the accompanying footwear. Taken to extremes, studded jeans look great with studded heels (such as Valentino’s iconic rockstuds).
But there’s so much more.
Jeans can be paired with mules, peeptoes and classic pumps. Heeled boots, platforms and even strappy sandals can look great with denim too.
Provided your jeans are classy, and your shoes are neat and tidy, you can match just about any jeans with heels. And these days, even ripped jeans can be designer-clothing so whether you’re dressed up or dressed down is somewhat in the eye of the beholder.
There really are no rules.
The most important thing to remember about your jeans and heels combination is that it should work for you. If you’re feeling comfortable and looking great then that’s really all that matters.
