High heels in the pose

In the world of foot and shoe modelling, a particular posture known as “the pose” is very popular.

To strike “the pose” as a shoe model, a woman wearing a heels lies on her stomach with her feet kicked up playfully behind her.

Quite often a woman in the pose who is modelling heels will have her ankles crossed as this is a good way to display both shoes.

And while other models of both shoe and person are of course possible, when it comes to the pose what is depicted is almost always a woman in high heels!

The angle of the pose can vary from the directly facing towards the camera, or a more side-on angle as shown in the professional photograph above.

In the photograph above, the model actually wished to do a white sheets shoot but to keep her heels on. This is not always the case as the pose is also a popular way to model bare feet and stockings.

Bare feet are often modelled in the pose with both soles facing the camera although they can frequently be displayed with ankles crossed as well.

With all of these poses, there are many variations and degrees. The focus of the camera is one of the most important.

For example, the image above is undoubtedly a sensual posture and the model’s feet being kicked up behind her add to this. However, unlikely a more fetishistic photo, the feet are out of focus and therefore not the main focus of the image.

The pose is unquestionably seductive and sexy as many model shoots of course are. What perhaps makes the pose special is that it is popular in the shoe and foot fetish community.

However the pose also is also often seen in mainstream images. Indeed it can even be sporty!

The pose has an air of innocence or playfulness about it. The feet kicked up behind the model can also suggest that the image is natural or candid – that she is just lying casually without thinking about the camera.

The element of sexiness of comes comes from the use of high heels. The frequent setting of a bed also perhaps hints at this, particularly if combined with bedroom heels.

However the pose is also frequently used to model shoes, stockings and feet by models on couches, benches or outdoors. Indeed a popular setting for the pose is for the model to be lying on the grass. Again this emphasises the causal or candid nature.

Finally, the pose is a useful way for photographers to show off the whole face and body of a model while also highlighting her shoes. This can be a challenge to do properly and is even more difficult when the picture required is a landscape shape not a portrait.

The pose therefore can be a look that suits many different agendas. Now that you know what it is, you may see it frequently appearing in many different places!
