We’re pretty skeptical about whether Victoria Beckham actually ever said the immortal line “I just can’t concentrate in flats” on breakfast television in 2008.
But she’s embraced it as her own since nonetheless.
A good example of this is that in 2019 Victoria even put out a slogan t-shirt with the line “I can’t concentrate in flats” on the front.
The shirt has disappeared from the Victoria Beckham range, leading some to question whether its very existence was a shoe myth. However we can confirm that Victoria’s “can’t concentrate in flats” tee really did happen.
It was pre-pandemic, which seems a lifetime ago, when Victoria put out a shirt with the phrase “I can’t concentrate in flats” emblazoned on the front. The shirt was a clear nod to the famous phrase (although missing the word “just”) that had long been associated with her.
The shirt was marketed under the auspices of the more accessible (read: cheaper) “Victoria, Victoria Beckham” line.
The designer merged this line with her more exclusive Victoria Beckham line in 2021.
You can see the now-defunct “Victoria, Victoria Beckham” label on the front of the t-shirt. Humorous slogans and prints were an ongoing theme for the VVB brand before the two lines were reimagined as one after the pandemic.
The Victoria Beckham “I can’t concentrate in flats” t-shirt was available exclusively online and at Victoria’s flagship shop in Mayfair, London in 2019 and 2020.
The shirt sold out quickly and has been removed from the website (the old address, accessible through the internet archive was: https://www.victoriabeckham.com/products/flats-tee/)
The shirt had a designer price tag of £95.00 or about US$120. It came in sizes XS to L and had a was cut for a boxy, relaxed fit from soft cotton jersey. The boxy look is a Victoria Beckham special.
The shirt was 100% cotton and was made in Portugal for those lucky enough to get their hands on one at the time.
