High heels are allowed as carry on luggage by all commercial airlines. This is good news for those who like to travel in comfort but don’t want to have the cost or hassle of checking a bag just to take their heels along for the ride.
Of course, when you think about this issue it makes complete sense that high heels are permitted as carry on baggage in airplanes. After all, you’re allowed to wear heels onto an aircraft and some flight attendants are even required to wear them.
So if you’re allowed to get your heels onto the plane on your feet, then it stands to reason that you can keep a pair above your head in the overhead locker too.
If you’re planning on slipping your favorite stilettos into your carry on, then there’s a couple of things you should note.
First, while you might not be asked to remove any heels you’re wearing in the unlikely event of an emergency, one thing is clear: if you’re called to evacuate the aircraft then you must leave your carry on luggage behind.
Even if it contains your designer high heels.
The other thing to remember is that many airlines have very strict weight limits. So if you’re thinking of putting a pair of heavy stiletto boots into your carry on then you should prepare to pack lightly with the rest of your items.
Otherwise the best place for your heels in flight might well be on your feet.
