Extreme heels are high-heeled shoes with exceptionally tall heels. We use the term “extreme heels” to refer to the very highest or tallest high heels that are available.
These heels are often designed to be visually striking and typically have extreme heights of 6 inches (15 cm) or more. They are known for their bold and sometimes challenging designs that push the limits of traditional footwear in terms of height and style.

As you’ll now understand, “extreme stilettos” are simply extremely (very) high heels. Within this range come platforms, single sole shoes and boots. Metal heels and even heel-less shoes are also within the definition of “extreme heels”, there being a slight irony about the last category.
Extreme heels all have some things in common though: they are uncomfortable, difficult to walk in and designed to look very sexy. These shoes are sometimes referred to as “cartoon heels” because they belong in a make-believe world rather than a real one.
Nevertheless extreme heels are very much available to buy in the real world and they are even easier to purchase online. It is no longer the case that very high heels are available only from specialist retailers.
