Cole Haan + Nike = comfortable heels

These might look like your run-of-the-mill run pumps, but they are, in fact, special heels. This pretty pair are actually equipped with hidden Nike Air technology. That’s right – NIKE!

But, no, they are not meant for shooting hoops or running the track. Rather, these pumps come with a patented cushioning technology that meant to make your heels more comfortable for long wear. Nice!

Now, here comes the bad news. All the shoes featured in this article were available in 2011, back when Nike owned the Cole Haan brand. And they all have the super-comfortable Nike Air technology hidden in them – even the strappy sandals!

However in late 2012, Nike announced that it had sold the Cole Haan brand to a private equity group. This was the beginning of the end for the Nike / Cole Haan mashup.

The transaction finalised in 2013 and Cole Haan stopped using Nike technology shortly after that.

It was sad but somewhat inevitable: while putting Nike Air technology in heels was great for heel-lovers, it was kind of distracting for Nike. In getting out of the stiletto business, Nike was freed up to focus on sports shoes only.

In this article, enjoy some pictures of the variety of styles that the Nike / Cole Haan shoes were available in back in 2011. Back the, prices ranged from around $150 (on sale) to nearly $330.
