It is amazing to believe that its been nearly 29 years since Kylie Minogue’s debut single The Locomotion was released in July 1987. Perhaps equally hard to believe, the music video for the track did not feature Kylie dancing around in her trade mark high heels.
Although many of Kylie’s fans were not even born when Kylie first cracked the big time, if they had been alive the music video (which you can see below) might have surprised them. They would have seen a 19 year old Kylie doing the Locomotion with a giant blonde perm and wearing cute red flats!
Kylie has confirmed that flats are now well and truly out when she is on stage performing: “I wear flats sometimes but not when I’m working – you’d never see me,” the singer told the April 2012 edition of Marie Claire magazine.
In the same interview, Kylie also confirmed that her shoe choices these days were either dead flat or sky-high: “I used to wear medium heels but now it seems to be either really high or flat.”
The high heels have paid some dividends: last year, Kylie claimed that she thought of her famous butt as an entity in its own right – and attributed the success of it to her love of heels. In an interview with the Daily Mail Kylie referred to her award-winning bottom and explained:
“I think of it as something entirely separate to me. Probably the reason for it is the fact I’ve spent most of my adult life dancing around in very high heels.
“If I’m ever honestly asked to explain my job I’d say I was a high-heel stunt woman.”
Kylie confessed to the Mail that there was a downside to her heels though: “High heels are very bad for the back but they are great for the thighs and the butt. And then the other secret is great lighting.”

Kylie Minogue has been rocking stilettos since she stepped out of Charlene’s workboots in Neighbours, which is pretty much forever. The Aussie star has always posted plenty of high heel pictures on her social media sites and her 2014 shoe collection is better than ever. Is it the best in the world? Maybe. Are we jealous? Yes!
Below are the high heel pictures Kylie has posted on her Instagram page this year.
On 26 February 2014 Kylie’s shoe of the day (tagged #shoeoftheday) was a pair of glittering Dolce & Gabbana stiletto sandals (see below).
Kylie Minogue’s shoe of the day on 7 February 2014 was by Casadei. She’s wearing the designer’s iconic Blade pointed toe pump in pink nappa leather. Blade has a 4.5 inch silver laquered heel made from real steel, with a 0.4 inch concealed plateau. The pink stilettos retail from Casadei for around $690 (€620).
Kylie’s shoe of the day for 3 February 2014 was a versatile and understated black Giuseppe Zanotti pump. Her Instagram selfie was taken during a photo shoot for New York based Australian fashion photographer Will Davidson.
Last but not least come the Christian Louboutins. Kylie nominated her red soled stilettos as her daily shoe pick on 29 January 2014. The shoes are the towering 120mm (5 inch) So Kate heels, seen here in a multi-colored design on a python skin upper. O.M.G.
Black patent leather Dolce & Gabanna high heels are hot property, so it can be difficult to track down a pair. Today we think we’ve done better than that and have found three different pairs of these shoes available online albeit each in a limited range of sizes. The trouble is that there is so little information provided about these heels that it is actually difficult to see whether they are the same or different and how. The differences are subtle, but they appear to be there. It is always a little tricky to tell just from photographs.
What we do know is that they’re all very elegant shoes with long pointed toes and high thin stiletto heels. Anyway, the price tags all differ and we think we can see some differences so we’ll bring you all three (or is it just one?).
The pair of black heels pictured above are the cheapest of the lot at $357 via Farfetch (that’s 40% off). The pointed stiletto heel measures 11.5 cm, which is just over 4.5 inches. There are only two pairs available, so if you’re a size 36.5 or 39 in Dolce & Gabanna shoes then you’re in luck.
We’re pretty convinced of the uniqueness of pair number 3 of Dolce & Gabbana black pointed toe stilettos. This pair is from the label’s current range, and is for sale on the Dolce & Gabbana website in sizes 37, 38 and 39. The shoe is called the Bellucci K pump and we assume it is named for sexy Italian actress Monica Bellucci who has worked with the brand for several years now. The Bellucci K pump is available from Dolce & Gabbana’s website for €490 (currently around $US670).
It’s not easy to pick just one highlight from the Dolce & Gabbana women’s shoe offerings for Spring and Summer 2013. We like a challenge though and we’ve gone with these textured leather Bianca sandals. On sober reflection, we’re happy with that choice.
The outer of these beautiful iguana printed sandals has been crafted from 100% calfskin, and the lining is mainly goatskin (70%) with calfskin making up the remaining 30%. They have a five inch stiletto heel which is perfect for wearing with an evening dress or to a special occasion. Because these heels are classy little numbers.
The contrasting gold leather piping detail really helps to highlight the textured leather strap, without being overpowering. All up, we’re in love with these high heels. They’re simple, classy and beautiful. What more can we say? The Bianca stiletto heeled sandals for SS13 are available now from Dolce & Gabbana for £460.
