Hollywood screen icon Elizabeth Taylor is the inspiration for Mr Kandee’s latest creation: a pair of dazzling, rhinestone-covered booties with a 4.7 inch heel. The booties are called Taylor – appropriately enough – and their blinged-out nature is in keeping with the headline grabbing behaviour of a star who spent five decades gracing the silver screen. Elizabeth Taylor may have died of congestive heart failure in March 2011 but she lives on through this hand-made creation from Kandee shoes. The Taylor bootie retails for £250 exclusive to the Kandee website.
The silver colour of Kandee’s Taylor bootie is reminiscent of a famous Elizabeth Taylor high heel, which we’ve pictured above. This pair of silver evening sandals were worn by Elizabeth Taylor in the mid-1980s when her focus had turned from making movies to AIDs awareness and prevention (Taylor co-founded the American Foundation for AIDs research in 1985, and established the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation in 1991).
This pair of Taylor’s silver high heeled sandals were bought at a charity auction to raise money for sick children in Wales. They were added to the collection at the Bata shoe Museum in Toronto, Canada where they are currently on display. The shoes are signed by Elizabeth Taylor and came with a letter of authenticity. They were designed by American designer Roy Halston Frowick (known to all as Halston).
Mr Kandee of Kandee Shoes has launched his summer 2013 range and it is predictably fabulous. The collection is called “pick ‘n’ mix,” named after the loose candy retailing system of the designer’s fondly-remembered childhood. Not that this was very long ago: “Mr Kandee” is really Josh Wayman who is only 23!
The pick ‘n’ mix collection is full of fabulous shoe treats, all named for confectionary in the traditional Kandee way. My favorite are the “Lemon ‘n’ Lime” pumps above. These handmade stilettos have a leather upper with a transparent PVC top. The rubber sole is a bold lime color and the shoe has a 4.7 inch heel.
The collection is expected to sell quickly if past collections are a good guide. The Lemon ‘n’ Lime pumps are available now from Kandee Shoes for £129.99.

Kandee shoes has unveiled its FW2012 collection, and the shoes are now available for purchase on the company’s website. In true eye-popping style, designer Josh Wayman (aka @MrKandee) has named the collection “Skinny Bitch” but the shoes are bitchin’ in all the right ways. Best of all, the brand has just tweeted that you can use the code SKINNIEBITCH on check-out at kandeeshoes.com for a DELICIOUS 15% discount!
The shoes in the Skinny Bitch collection consist of a pump and an ankle bootie, both available in a choice of four neon colors: green, yellow, pink or orange. In each case the leather of the shoe’s upper is embossed with golden tipped python scales which are said to evoke the luxurious nature of the Skinny Bitch!
We hope to see plenty of the Skinny Bitch range on celebrities shortly, making full use of the popularity of neon high heels right now. Meanwhile @MrKandee himself is reportedly relaxing by a pool in the sunshine in Dubai, but the Kandee brand has tweeted that his trip does have a work component: apparently the talented young designer will be working on the FW2013 collection while he is there.
